Tresury of Time/The Comfort Connect
I made this project by myself because I have been really into 3D modeling. As soon as I saw this, I thought it would be a great thing to put my work into. Not only because it is something I enjoy, but it can help improve the world for people, no matter their age or place. However, because I'm 16, I am still learning and I'm still busy with school and hanging out with friends. The project that I made is for nursing homes. I feel like when I think of a nursing home, there really isn't a whole lot that the person can do and experience, which makes it harder to keep them active and healthy. It also makes it less inviting to family if they have nowhere to sit or hang out.
Supplies
I didn't use a whole lot because I can't spend anything on software. Instead, I used Blender, Google Slides while I was in school, and CapCut for the editing.
Google Slides
when i came across make it heal project i was in school and it almost instantly gave me an idea the first thing i did is make a VERY basic floor plain of what i wanted in google slides because i did not have a mouse at the time. when i walk in my school it is very bland and while there's a little court yard its only used for lunch and seemed very uninviting to me so i thought of a little design that could be not only nice for the aesthetics but also just really make the place a more calming space.
The other side will have water that runs through the stone wall that pools as a waterfall at the end partly for visual more for sound a few benches to allow people to rest as well maybe to make the rock a little less boring add either plants a plaques of the people who built it and what for so on. Have a spot for people in wheelchairs so they don't have to be in the center of the walkway open roof design for lighting and at night lights on the floor to help guidance.
Plant Wall
After that, when I got home, I started working on the first side in Blender. I was pretty happy with it, but I wanted to add vines, so I did that next. I used an add-on for the vines to make them look realistic and a lot more optimized. I also had them follow a curve to make them look pretty. I was very happy with how it came out in the end.
Rock Wall
Then, I started working on the rock wall. I made the mossy textures for it, which I'm pretty proud of since I don't mess with texture nodes much. For the rock itself, I just sculpted it; I'm sure there was a better way, but I couldn't think of it. I did not make the water texture, but I added a node to make it animate when the video was played.
Forgot to Track
Annoyingly, I forgot to take photos between these steps. All I really did, though, was add a little roof and some seating areas. At that point, I thought I was pretty close to being done and ready to do a render. However, after I did that, I asked my mother what she thought about it. She gave me a few examples of areas in a nursing home and pointed out how the thing I made wasn't very accessible for people in wheelchairs. After looking at a few videos of walkthroughs of nursing homes, I got a much better idea of what to do.
Expanding
first i made everything bigger and on a concrete floor then i added a wall and some fencing i also put a hole in the wall for a door when i got one but at the moment i wasn't worried about that. i didn't like how bland the walls where so i started to add bushes on one side and the door too!
Seating
All I really did was add a few places to sit depending on what you wanted to do. There are rocking chairs for talking or just rocking, tables to eat with family and friends, and a nice fireplace for warmth and a nice fire.
Activities!
Finally, I added a few things for them to be active and social. One was a piano, because playing the piano is incredibly beneficial for older adults. It is a full-body and brain workout that improves cognitive function, keeps fingers nimble, boosts emotional health, and provides a deep sense of accomplishment. Then, I added chess for the same mental challenges and workout, as well as an option for music if it is wanted.
Editing
After I did all the rendering, which took longer than I want to admit, I started to edit it in CapCut. While it's not perfect because of the time restraints, it's what I had to deal with. It is too big of a file size to put here, which is why it's a YT video. So yeah! That's what I made for this contest. honestly this was a lot of fun.
