A Waterfall Hair Chain is a statement headpiece that features long, cascading strands of gold-plated stone chain. It is designed to sit at the back of the head, allowing the stones to shimmer and flow like a "waterfall" over your hair.
The Ultimate Upcycle: We’re turning a basic aluminum hanger into a custom jewelry frame. Who knew a closet staple could look this expensive?

Supplies
Here are the materials required to make the Waterfall Hair Chain jewellry by yourself.
- Aluminium Wire hanger (Or any solid metal wire which can be shaped)

- Gold plated stone chain (https://a.co/d/04J6t4I3)
- Adhesive to stick chain into frame
Shape the Base
The skeleton of your jewelry comes from the aluminum hanger.
- Cut the Hanger: Use your side cutters to snip the bottom straight edge or the "shoulders" of the hanger. You need a piece roughly 10–12 inches long, depending on how far around the head you want the drape to sit.
- Form the Curve: Carefully bend the wire into a "U" or semi-circle shape.
Tip: Use a large cylindrical object (like a water bottle or a mannequin head) as a mandrel to get a smooth, even curve.
Prepare the Hanging Chains
Decide how long you want the "curtain" effect to be.
- Measure: Measure from the back of your head to your mid-back or waist.
- Cut the Rose gold ball chain with enough length such that it can be rolled around the frame.
- Cut the Gold plated stone Chain: Cut 7 to 11 strands of the chain using your cutters.
Symmetry Tip: Make the center strand the longest, and slightly shorten the strands as they move toward the ends of the wire base for a tapered look.
Attaching Things
Before gluing, lay the wire base flat on a table.
- Mark the center of the wire
- Space your gold plates stone chains strands evenly (about 1 to 1.5 cm aprat). Ley them out to ensure you like the flow before making it permanent.
- Apply glue: Put a small bead of glue on the wire base where the stone chain will hang.
- To make connection extra secure and decorative, wrap tiny bit of the end around the frame.
- To make the frame look pretty now, wrap and roll the rose gold ball chain around the main frame.
- Apply another drop of glue over the wrap to lock it in.
Finishing
- The glue will be waterproof, and dry once it's settled.
- Using pliers, loop the ends of the wire into small semi circle, or glue a large pearl or decorative bead onto each tip.
Creating your own high-end hair accessories doesn't have to be expensive. With a little patience and a repurposed clothes hanger, you’ve created a piece that looks like it came straight from a boutique!
