Wood Oven From Reclaimed Steel Pipes
Turning unused piping from plant construction into a pizza oven.
It is an old (>1 year) project so i don't have pictures of every step, i hope it will still be clear enough.
The design is inspired bay a flammekuechen oven owned by a friend of mine. This oven is designed to let smoke pass all the way over the cooking plate and giving smoky aromas to your dish.
Supplies
Reclaimed big diameter steel piping (14" for the current project but adaptable) - free
Reclaimed small pipe (2" for the current project) - free
1mm reclaimed plain steel plate - free
380mm round pizza stone - ~25€ online shop
Pipe Cutting
Cut the big pipe according to the plan (dimensions in mm). Adapt the dimensions if needed, i had a 14" section
Keep the removed sections
Inner Sections Cutting
Prepare 2 inner sections according to the plan. Adapt the dimensions if needed. Leave an open part for fumes evacuation.
Inner Sections Welding
Weld in place both inner sections in order to create a channel directing heat from the combustion chamber to the cooking chamber and then the exhaust 50mm - 2" pipe
Doors
Add hinges to the cutted part from the main pipe. Weld them in place.
Add Pizza Stone to Cooking Chamber
Cut the pizza stone to the dimensions of the cooking chamber. Insert it.
Time to Enjoy
Add wood into the combustion chamber and ignite. Close the doors and let the temperature rise. I reached 350°C with this design, without insulation.
When the oven is hot enough, insert your homemade pizza for a few minutes.
Bon Appétit
Enjoy !
I also tried a peach tart after pizzas, the experiment turned very well.
