Yautja Predator Clock
I love everything about the Yautja Predator universe.
Previously, I created a design featuring Yautja numerals as a countdown.
Now my goal was to make a functional clock using Yautja numerals. To make it easier to read, as a little trick, I've added a digital clock that displays the time in the conventional format.
Supplies
OVERVIEW
The assembly is like that of a 6-sided box, but with the addition of a front cover part and deco details.
LASER CUT THE MDF
Laser cut all the pieces as described on Photo 1.
I used plain 3mm MDF. Once I cut it, I painted it black. You can just directly use colored MDF.
GLUING THE FIRST PARTS
Glue Bottom to Front part. Then Right and Left parts. Finally the Top part. Left the Back Part for later use.
Be careful when attaching the Top part; make sure it is oriented correctly. We will attach the TM1637 (clock) to the Top using 5-mm M3 hexagonal spacers.
Print the 3D Parts
Print 4 3D objects. Solid grey its the right filament color, never use white to avoid light mixing between neopixels.
NEOPIXELS WIRING
Use the Stencil to place the Neopixels for wiring.
Make 4 lines of 9 neopixels and glue them to the 3D part.
ENGRAVING AND CUTTING THE ACRYLIC
By engraving the acrylic, we are able to diffuse the light.
Test-cut along the kerf. The acrylic should practically hold itself in place. To be sure, you can apply a few drops of glue to the inner edge.
ELECTRONICS
Before the final assembly, set up a prototype board with all the components working properly.
Follow the wiring diagram shown in Photo 1
Remember the TM1637 needs 5-mm M3 hexagonal spacers to be placed on Top part.
GLUE THE 3D PARTS AND NEOPIXELS
GLUE THE COVER PART
Before attaching the COVER PART, paint it and insert the acrylic pieces.
Then paint the frames and attach the 4 frames.
COLOR OPTIONS AND CUSTOMIZATION DATA
Using simple code, you can customize the color of the Neopixels, with RGB values.
We need to provide Network Name and password and GMT offset in seconds of your country, in my case, Spain, 3600.(1 hour)
